Halloween in Syracuse, NY has an unexpected event this year: the final show at Badlands. As a result of a series of events directing negative attention towards us, we're forced to close our doors at the end of this month. Badlands has been a home for the majority of Sunken Cheek performances in Syracuse, including the very first one. I helped run this small room with a handful of friends and like-minded individuals. We stayed afloat for 2 years and put on dozens of shows and events, some that are already unforgettable. We kept it affordable, accessible, versatile, and punk.
In one last blast of energy we offer a free show on Halloween night featuring some of the staple acts and volunteers that kept Badlands alive. Hopefully we'll take up residence elsewhere or begin anew. Punk always finds a way.

After several months of writing, experimenting, and recording some results are beginning to emerge. Available now are 2 new tapes (much thanks to Tony at Worthless), full information and samples below.

The near future should yield split cassettes with Shore Lined Poison and Chasms. If all goes well, short journeys on the road with these friends will also take place. For now, stay tuned here for upcoming shows and releases.

Two songs recorded during fits of summer illness. Focuses on physical ailments and the violent decomposition of the body. Massive feedback shifts, distant cries, synth drones, samples, and fuzzed-out clatter. Listen with a headache, listen covered in sweat. 50 copies.

Sunken Cheek - "Thirty Atonements" c24 self-released

Simply put: blown-out harsh noise. Two tracks of metal abuse tinged with distant cries, hums, and sparse synth blasts. A sincere attempt to cleanse the guilt and make amends. Each copy of this tape includes an individual typed apology. 30 copies.

Sunken Cheek - Residuals is a 1 page zine that was made last September for Syracuse's Assault City Fest. The zine was free and 25 copies or so were made. Later, the words were put to sound in 3 parts. These tracks are a mess of drones, harsh noise, delays, loops and feedback .A gushing flow of internal/external hatred. Nothing lost, nothing gained. In keeping with the original idea in mind, these songs are free for download.

Depths

Sunken Cheek - Depths CS

Recorded in Fall of 2011, Depths is a tape consisting of two 15 minute songs: Depths and Shell. Synth drones, feedback/reverb layers and springs were merged with harsher noise to bring two stories to light. Whispered tales of habitat destruction and adaptation provide outline.
